Ranking of Programs
All PT programs are reviewed every 10 years by CAPTE. Just as a new program is reviewed to become accredited, existing programs must undergo the same process to continue with their accreditation status. When these programs are reviewed they are given a score out of 5 (5 being the best). This ranking system however, is quite meaningless. If you go to a school that is accredited and has good board exam pass rates, that is much more important.
TIP: It is important to remember that while certain programs rank higher than others, when choosing the schools you would like to apply to consider cost, location, class size, and teaching style. Most PT's and PT students will attest to the fact that whether you go to a school ranked #5 or a school #500 you will graduate with the skills necessary to work in most PT settings so it is better to go to the school is most convenient and cheapest for your needs and not necessarily higher ranked.
