Application Fee Waiver
If you don't know by now, applying to graduate programs in any field can become expensive very quickly. With centralized application fees (PTCAS), supplemental application fees (University applications), the cost of travel to interviews, not to mention the time that goes into applying. During the 2010 application cycle the PTCAS fee was $120 plus $35 dollars for each additional school you checked in your PT Program Designations section. Being approved for the application fee waiver discards the $120 fee holding you accountable for only the $35 fee for each program you apply to.
Found in the FAQ section of PTCAS there is a link that says Fee Waiver. This link has the potential of saving you hundreds of dollars. The main qualifications of the fee waiver are that you are a US Citizen, fit into one of the income brackets shown in the link, and provide documentation of income.
To be approved for the fee waiver you must submit it and be accepted BEFORE you e-submit your PTCAS application. This means that if you are planning on applying early on in the application cycle take care of this quickly.
Once you start receiving invitations from schools to fill out supplemental applications many of the schools will have a spot where you can declare that you were approved for the PTCAS application fee waiver and they will waive your responsibility of paying the application fee to that specific school. If there is not obvious spot to tell them you were accepted for the fee waiver call the program directly and ask them if they will waive the secondary app fee.
