The Interview
The interview may be one of the most nerve racking parts of getting into PT school. Some schools don't do interviews, some schools do. The interview may be you with one faculty member (one-on-one), you with multiple faculty members, multiple applicants together (group), or essay question. The interview should not be taken lightly. Do your research on the school you are interviewing with and current issues involving PT, review possible questions they could ask, prepare questions to ask them.
The interview is an opportunity for faculty and staff to get to know you personally. There is only so much they can tell about you through transcripts and essays. Your grades are a way they can quickly determine your capabilities of successfully handling the coursework in graduate school. Academic successful applicants are not all that PT programs want. Remember that most of PT work is in clinics and other settings working and interacting with people. The interview is their chance to observe you social skills and problem solving skills.
TIP: Prepare for the interview, don't take it lightly. A good interview can boost a weak applicant just the same that a bad interview can hurt a strong applicant. Prepare for questions that will be asked of you, prepare questions to ask the interviewer, and research the schools you will interview with.
