Continuing Education
Continuing education will be a part of your career as a PT whether you like it or not. All states have a certain number of required con ed hours that must be completed every year or two in order to maintain licensure. Most employers offer to pay a certain amount per year for you to attend con. ed. courses and there isn't a requirement as to which courses you have to attend, this is up to each therapist and their professional interests. You will notice as you get more experience working with other clinicians (CIs, collegues, other students, etc) that some therapists don't take con ed very seriously and only make an effort to complete the minimum hours and "easiest" courses to maintain their license.
While con. ed being a requirement does make is seem like a chore, DON'T TAKE THIS MINDSET!! Continuing education should be thought of as an opportunity to maintain those skills that are more challenging and fine tune those skills you want to truly master. It can also be used to explore techniques with which you are not familiar.
